ACTRESS Ashley Ortega admitted she was hurt after reading comments labeling her a “starlet” following her recent stint as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother.
“Five years pa lang ako sa showbiz, may mga tao na talagang puro negative ang sinasabi,” Ashley said. “Pero super dedma lang po talaga ako. I focus on my blessings and the positive things happening in my life.”
While she usually shrugs off online bashing, Ortega said the harsh criticisms she read after leaving the PBB house hit differently.
“Sige, sasabihin ko na po—‘starlet.’ Hayan. Pero I will always prove that I’m more than that,” she said. “Yun lang po ang medyo na-hurt ako. Aside from that, wala naman.”
Ashley shared that her time inside the PBB house taught her a lot, and she was surprised by how different public perception was compared to the reality inside.
“Actually, ibang-iba po kasi kapag sa loob. At iba naman po ‘yung nakikita ng mga nasa labas,” she said.
Her stay in the reality show also brought unexpected blessings. Ashley, who developed a fondness for Luxe Slim products while inside the house, was noticed by the brand’s CEO, Anna Magkawas, and has since been signed as an official endorser.
She also reconnected with her mother and sister, with whom she had not spoken for three years. “We’ve already started communicating,” said Ashley, who also appears in the series Lolong. “But we haven’t seen each other yet.”
