ACTRESS and television host Anne Curtis has expressed concern over the reported mining operations in the Sierra Madre mountain range in Isabela province.
On Instagram, Curtis reposted a series of photos originally shared by content creator @pauloinmanila showing what appeared to be areas of the Sierra Madre allegedly affected by mining.
“ANONG PINAGGAGAWA NIYO SA #SIERRAMADRE?!” the post’s caption read. “Money will kill us all! Talagang pinayagan sila ng Mayor ng Dinapigue, Isabela to do a 25-year contract mining operation? Para saan?”
Curtis responded by asking for confirmation. “Is this real? Can anyone confirm this? This is quite concerning. I remember people saying Sierra Madre played a huge role in breaking typhoons’ strength before they hit the cities. I truly hope this isn’t real.”
She also called on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to verify the situation.
“@DENROfficial @DILGPhilippines is this true po? I literally just posted that we hardly have any greens in the metro except for QC. This would be so sad if this is true,” Curtis added.
