ANDI Eigenmann continues to mourn the loss of her mother, Jaclyn Jose, and just days before the acclaimed actress’ first death anniversary, she chose to honor her with a palm leaf tattoo.
In an Instagram post, Andi explained the significance of the design. “Amidst life’s many challenges, she always remained strong. The most admirable thing about her,” she wrote, likening her mother to a palm leaf, a symbol of resilience.
The tattoo also represents victory—an ode to Jaclyn’s decorated career. “Growing up was special, witnessing someone firsthand constantly refining her craft, always striving for excellence in doing what she loved most… She won many accolades for this, and the first Asian Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival is just one of them. I’ll always cherish this moment, and the fact that she chose to share this with me.”
More than anything, the palm leaf symbolizes eternal life. “As she will always and forever live in me,” Andi said.
Reflecting on her grief, she admitted that she once struggled to find the “best way” to honor her mother but has now realized that the answer lies in treasuring the life she was given. “As grief changes me, I would like to carry these facets of who she was, alongside those of mine that I know she always loved,” she wrote.
“This journey of grief has been long and tough, and quite frankly, sometimes dark. But I believe that the love you showered me with should be enough to trust that I will again see the light.”
