NAANTALA ang operasyon ng Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) matapos mag-overshoot ang Korean Air flight KE631 Linggo ng gabi dahil sa hindi magandang panahon.
Naganap ang insidente matapos ang landing ng Airbus 330 na widebody jet na pag-aari ng Korean Air alas 11:11 ng gabi.
Wala namang naiulat na nasugatan o nasawi sa 162 pasahero at 11 crew na sakay ng eroplano, ayon sa GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC).
Dahil sa nangyari, sinuspinde muna ang oeprasyon sa airport.
“The incident has necessitated the temporary closure of the MCIA runway to allow for the safe removal of the aircraft. For now, all international and domestic flights to and from MCIA are canceled until further notice,” ayon sa GMCAC, ang private consortium na kasamang nagmimintina ng Mactan airport.
