INIIMBESTIGAHAN na ngayon ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources ang ulat na pinasok ng mga armadong lalaki ang Masungi Georeserve Area nitong weekend, ayon kay DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones.
Sa isang press conference, sinabi pa ni Leones na agad na nagpadala ng mga miyembro ng DENR Region IV-A (CALABARZON) para imbestigahan ang ulat.
Hiwalay rin na iniimbestigahan ng pulisya ang insidente.
“On 18 September 2022, DENR Enforcement Division Director Gen. Ruel Sorilla and DENR Region 4A Regional Executive Director Nilo Tamoria, together with members of the Philippine National Police from the Municipal Police Station of Tanay; PNP from the Municipal Police Station of Baras; and the Provincial Mobile Force of Rizal, proceeded to the area to confirm the reports. They observed approximately ten security guards, who identified themselves as employees of Sinagtala Security Agency, hired by a private individual,” sabi ni Leones.
Idinagdag ni Leones na maglalabas ng ulat ang PNP, samantalang nagsasagawa na ang DENR ng hiwalay na imbestigasyon.
“The Department recognizes that the issues surrounding the Masungi Georeserve and adjacent lands have a long, complex history and involve conflicting private claims and national interest. The DENR assures the public that it will uphold the rule of law and continue its mandate of preserving proclaimed protected areas,” dagdag ni Leones.
