CONTENT creator Ronie Suan, popularly known as “Boy Tapang,” was arrested on Friday, May 30, following the issuance of a warrant in connection with an Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 case filed by his live-in partner.
Suan, 25, was apprehended at 12:15 p.m. in Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City by operatives from the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), led by Police Capt. Christopher Irwin Sanchez. He is a resident of Brgy. Daanlungsod, Alcoy, Cebu.
The warrant, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 143 in Cainta, Rizal, recommended a P72,000 bail for his temporary release.
According to police, the case stemmed from a complaint filed by Suan’s 21-year-old live-in partner, Cristina Morales, who alleged that she was physically abused during an altercation in the early hours of April 1, 2025, in Alcoy.
Morales said the dispute began after Suan discovered a vape among her belongings and escalated into physical violence. She claimed to have sustained bruises, particularly around her ribs.
Police Capt. Gerry Magsayo, officer-in-charge of the Alcoy Police Station, confirmed the arrest and noted that the victim had endured a “pattern” of abuse.
“Sumala sa iyahang live-in partner, dili ra daw karon nga time. Murag sige na daw ni… Selos kuno ang hinungdan,” Magsayo said, pointing to jealousy as a possible trigger.
Investigators said Morales had kept silent about the alleged abuse for a long time, including during her pregnancy, due to fear and emotional attachment. She later decided to press charges.
Suan rose to fame in 2020 for his viral videos featuring extreme food challenges, including eating live insects. His YouTube channel has since grown to over 2.35 million subscribers and has racked up more than 163 million views. He was previously featured on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”
In 2023, Suan introduced his Filipino-American girlfriend LJ Satterfield in a widely viewed vlog. A year later, he drew criticism from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for creating a “money kite” using Philippine banknotes, prompting concerns about the proper handling of currency.
Suan also made headlines for admitting that his on-screen romance with fellow content creator Cherry White was scripted for content, drawing mixed reactions from followers.
