A scheduled power maintenance activity will take place at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 from 10 p.m. on Tuesday (July 16) to 2 a.m. on Wednesday (July 17), according to airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).
In an advisory, NNIC said the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the terminal’s safety, reliability, and optimal performance.
The work will be conducted by Meralco Energy, Inc. and will require a temporary power shutdown.
While backup generators will be activated to support critical systems, the advisory warned of possible brief disruptions to elevators, escalators, baggage handling, lighting, air conditioning, and electrical outlets.
“We will do our best to keep any inconvenience to a minimum,” the San Miguel Corporation-led consortium added.
A similar maintenance activity in May this year temporarily affected some boarding bridges for about four hours.
Terminal 3 has experienced major power-related issues in recent years.
In September 2022, a power outage delayed at least 31 flights and caused widespread operational disruptions. In June 2023, another interruption led to the cancellation of seven flights and long queues at immigration counters.
