SIGNIFICANT improvements have been made at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) just eight months after New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) took over its operations in September 2024.
Long plagued by congestion and inefficiency, the country’s main gateway is now seeing visible upgrades aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, access, and comfort.
In a progress update, NNIC highlighted key changes, including the deployment of thousands of new baggage trolleys, more inter-terminal shuttle buses, a centralized ride-hailing hub, expanded drop-off areas, improved parking spaces, and upgraded air-conditioning and Wi-Fi systems.
The airport now features new gang chairs in boarding gates, more efficient baggage handling systems, and fully functioning boarding bridges.
NNIC also noted that its ongoing river cleanup has contributed to keeping the airport flood-free.
These improvements were made while major rehabilitation works continue across NAIA, as part of NNIC’s broader goal to modernize airport facilities and services.
“We are working closely with our government partners to raise service standards. There’s still more to be done, but change is happening faster,” NNIC said.
The private operator assured the public that it remains committed to building a world-class airport that Filipinos can be proud of.
