AUTHORITIES are now investigating a female motorcycle rider who was filmed performing dangerous stunts along a busy highway in Mandaue City, Cebu.
In a video that circulated widely on social media, the woman was seen letting go of her motorcycle’s handlebars while it was moving. She leaned to one side of the vehicle and danced briefly before returning to a normal riding position.
The incident, which drew mixed reactions from netizens, has prompted a response from the Highway Patrol Group–Region 7 (HPG-7), whose director, Police Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, confirmed that a formal probe is underway.
“The rider clearly violated traffic laws and endangered not only herself but also other motorists on the road,” Parilla said in an interview.
HPG-7 said it is coordinating with the Land Transportation Office–Region 7 (LTO-7), which will determine if administrative sanctions, license suspension, or fines will be imposed on the rider.
While the identity of the rider has yet to be confirmed publicly, authorities said they are confident that she will be located soon based on the video footage and social media reports.
Parilla reminded all motorists to prioritize safety and follow traffic laws, especially along major highways where any form of reckless behavior could lead to serious accidents.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” he added. “No stunt or viral moment is worth risking lives.”
