AN 82-year-old man in Zamboanga del Sur was seriously injured after a 20-year-old suspect entered his home while he was sleeping and cut off his tongue, police said.
Reports said the suspect strangled the victim before mutilating him.
The victim’s son rushed to the room after hearing noises and saw his father bleeding while the suspect held the knife.
A struggle ensued until the family managed to get help. The victim is being treated in the hospital, while the suspect, believed to have mental health issues, is now in police custody.
The suspect’s family is reportedly negotiating with the victim’s relatives and has offered to shoulder medical expenses.
