A SINGLE father who was arrested in Tabuk City, Kalinga for stealing infant milk formula was released after the police chief paid for the item.
In a report, Tabuk police said the man was held on Thursday after a supermarket staffer caught him taking a 1.725-kilogram box of baby milk without paying.
The suspect told officers he had lost his job when a construction project ended and had been raising his child alone after his wife left.
“He explained that he has no job and was left alone to care for his son after his wife abandoned them,” the police said.
Lt. Col. Jack Angog, the city police chief, settled the cost of the item to prevent the man’s detention and “give him a chance to start anew.”
Netizens praised the police chief for his compassion and hoped the father finds more help moving forward.
