LGBT member, senior citizen undergo free circumcision, receive cash

A 68-YEAR-old senior citizen and a 34-year-old member of the LGBT community were among those who participated in a free circumcision campaign organized by the local government of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Both received cash incentives after undergoing the procedure.

In a Facebook post, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan said the senior citizen was awarded P20,000 while the LGBT participant received P10,000.

Miya, a native of Mactan and a member of the LGBT community, said she was not afraid of the operation and recognized the health benefits of circumcision, which is why she accepted the challenge.

The senior citizen, meanwhile, quipped that he chose to go through with the procedure because “No descendants of Lapulapu should be pisot.”

Mayor Chan had earlier announced that males aged 20 and above who undergo circumcision during the program would receive P10,000 while senior citizens would get P20,000.

The free circumcision campaign will run for three days—May 20, May 22, and May 30—in various barangays across Lapu-Lapu City.
