Leni bans gifts in Naga City Hall

NAGA City Mayor Leni Robredo has institutionalized a strict “No Gift Policy” across all local government offices in the city.

In a Facebook post on Monday, October 27, the former vice president announced the rollout of the policy, which prohibits city officials and employees from giving or receiving gifts in any form.

“All offices of the city government will soon be displaying ‘No Gift Policy’ posters in their entrances and public areas,” the post read.

“Mayor Leni Robredo’s issuance of Executive Order No. 58 institutionalizes a comprehensive prohibition on the giving and receiving of gifts in any form.”

Under the order, city government officials and workers are barred from soliciting or accepting, directly or indirectly, any “gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan, discount, service, or anything of monetary value” in relation to their duties or transactions affected by their functions.

The directive covers all officials and employees, whether elective or appointive, permanent or temporary, coterminous, casual, contractual, or job order, including personnel of local economic enterprises, special bodies, and project units.

Those found violating the policy may face administrative sanctions such as reprimand, suspension, or dismissal, as well as criminal prosecution under Republic Acts 3019 and 6713, Presidential Decree 46, and related laws.
