THE Legend Home Boxing Gym in Cebu City expressed deep sorrow over the death of its young boxer VJ, remembering him not only as a promising athlete but as a boy with a kind heart and strong faith.
In its post, the gym said the loss was felt beyond the boxer’s family, as coaches and fellow trainees witnessed his discipline, potential and dedication at a young age.
A statement from the gym described VJ as more than a fighter in the ring, saying he showed “lakas, determinasyon at pagnanasa sa bawat pagsasanay” and carried the promise of becoming a future champion.
Outside training, VJ was known for his cheerful disposition and active participation in his children’s Bible school. Gym officials said he remained “magalang” and eager to learn, traits that made him well-loved within the community.
“To VJ’s family, please know that we are grieving with you. Your son touched our lives in ways we will forever cherish,” the gym wrote. “Though his time here was short, he left a strong and beautiful mark — through his talent, his energy, his kindness, and his faith.”
“Rest in peace, VJ. You fought well, you lived with heart, and you inspired us all,” it added.
The gym did not disclose the cause of his death in its December 11 Facebook post.
