A 44-year-old blind masseur was arrested after he allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman with disability inside a halfway house in Barangay Apas, Cebu City, past midnight on May 23.
According to police, both the suspect and the victim were staying at the halfway house when the incident happened.
The victim, who is also visually impaired, told police the suspect sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she made any noise. She immediately reported the incident to staff at the rehabilitation center, who then alerted authorities.
The suspect was arrested through a citizen’s arrest later that day around 1:35 p.m. and was brought to the Mabolo Police Station.
The victim positively identified the suspect and gave a statement to investigators about her traumatic experience.
