The giant cake unveiled during the celebration of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s 80th birthday in Davao City was a collective effort by those who admire the former leader.
In a Facebook post, the Mindanao Culinary and Cake Decorating Society shared that the seven-foot cake took five days to make.
“Not an easy feat and cannot be done by one person,” the group said. “While some of us worked in the kitchen, others crafted toppers in different locations—some from Davao, others from various cities in Mindanao. Students even helped by making decorations at school.”
“This cake is truly a collective effort. Many of us had work, so we took turns in its creation. It is a collaboration of people with the same heart in celebrating PRRD’s 80th birthday.”
The cake was presented during a rally on Roxas Avenue which drew thousands of Duterte supporters.
Meanwhile, the former president spent his 80th birthday in detention at The Hague, Netherlands, where he is facing trial at the International Criminal Court.
