CEBU CITY — Two men identifying as members of the LGBT community were arrested Monday, October 13, for allegedly molesting three relief workers, including a minor, in Brgy. Mabolo.
The suspects, identified as alias Caloy, 24, and alias Meloy, 21, both temporarily residing in Barangay Mabolo, allegedly touched the victims while they were asleep during a drinking session after a relief repacking activity for earthquake victims in northern Cebu.
According to a witness, alias Ton, he confronted the suspects after the victims, aged 16, 18 and 19 reported the alleged molestation. “I asked them if they did it or not, and both said yes. I then called the barangay tanods to immediately bring them to the police station,” Ton said in Cebuano.
The suspects admitted they were drunk at the time but denied forcing the victims. “My question is, why are they seeking justice when they also wanted it?” said alias Caloy.
The suspects are now in custody at Mabolo Police Station and will face charges under Republic Act No. 8353, the Anti-Rape Law.
