VP Sara to skip NBI probe anew

VICE President Sara Duterte announced on Monday that she will skip the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) probe into her alleged death threat against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

This follows her request to reschedule the NBI’s initial summons on November 29, which was then moved to Wednesday, December 11.

“Sa pagkakaintindi ko sa explanation ng mga abogado ko sa investigation ng NBI ay pwede namang hindi pumunta, ‘yun ang explanation nila dahil pwede naman daw magsubmit na lang ng sulat or affidavit, depende sa aking desisyon, or position paper so hindi rin ako makapunta,” Duterte said during an interview with GMA Regional News.

She added that she would not attend due to her office’s thanksgiving activities and the need to attend a wake in Davao City.

“Meron kaming thanksgiving activities sa December 11 and after thanksgiving activities ay pauwi rin ako sa Davao city para maglibing ng uncle ko,” she explained.

The NBI’s subpoena concerns Duterte’s alleged grave threats under the Revised Penal Code and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, with potential violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

Amid these legal issues, Duterte welcomed the impeachment complaints filed against her, stating she would rather face impeachment and address the accusations directly.
