VP Sara: No plans to hide, leave PH

VICE President Sara Duterte said Wednesday that she has no intention of leaving the Philippines or hiding once she faces arrest amid the legal challenges and impeachment complaints filed against her.

“No, I don’t plan to leave the country. I don’t plan to hide if there will be a warrant of arrest mainly because my children are here,” Duterte said during a press conference.

She added that even if she were detained, she would want to remain close to her children.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has filed complaints against Duterte, her security chief, Colonel Raymund Dante Lachica, and other unidentified individuals for direct assault, disobedience, and grave coercion.

The complaints stemmed from an incident at the House of Representatives Detention Center involving the detention of Duterte’s chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez.

Duterte acknowledged the possibility of facing multiple legal challenges, stating, “Ang nakikita namin is removal from office, impeachment, and patong-patong na kaso.”

Duterte also discussed the two impeachment complaints currently before the House of Representatives regarding the use of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education.

She said she is expecting a third complaint and that her team is preparing their defense.
