VICE President Sara Duterte on Tuesday said she does not support calls for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to resign amid corruption controversies hounding his administration.
“Never ask him to resign. That is a pointless call. Hindi magre-resign ’yan. Nakita n’yo ba ’yung tatay, ilang taon ’yun? 20 years? Tignan n’yo ’yung DNA niyan a, ayaw ’yan umalis ng puwesto,” Duterte said in a press briefing.
The Vice President clarified that she is not calling for Marcos’ resignation, but for him to perform his duties, something she claimed he has failed to do.
“I never said ‘Marcos resign.’ Ang sinabi ko, unang-una, magpa-drug test siya. May challenge na siya galing kay Atty. Vic Rodriguez. That is a hanging open challenge na hanggang ngayon, ayaw niyang gawin. Na sinasabi ko, that is a betrayal of public trust,” she said.
Duterte also called out Marcos for allegedly signing a “questionable budget,” which she described as a “culpable violation of the Constitution.”
“’Yan ang dapat niyang sagutin, pero hindi niya sinasagot,” she added.
The Vice President further claimed that the administration has been diverting public attention instead of addressing the controversies surrounding it.
