VP Sara: Impeachment is ‘my bloodbath, my crucifixion’

VICE President Sara Duterte compared her looming impeachment trial to a “crucifixion,” calling it a form of political persecution.

“It’s a persecution, some sort of crucifixion. And so when there’s crucifixion, there’s blood. So, it’s a bloodbath—my bloodbath,” Duterte said on Saturday during her 47th birthday celebration in The Hague, where she also joined a rally supporting her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

VP Sara earlier said she was willing to face the impeachment trial because she wanted a “bloodbath,” a remark that drew criticism, which she later defended.

“Many people refuse to understand the context wherein I give my statements. I think many misunderstood the word ‘bloodbath.’ Many did not want to understand, refused to understand what it means,” she said.

She reiterated that the impeachment case against her is politically motivated.

“We have always said that the impeachment is a political persecution. It is the administration going after me,” she said.

Despite the controversy, the Vice President said she is ready to face the trial.
