VICE President Sara Duterte apologized to her supporters, particularly senior citizens, for the stress caused by controversies surrounding her, including an impeachment complaint, alleged misuse of confidential funds, and a subpoena from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
In an interview with GMA News, Duterte expressed gratitude to her supporters from Davao, Cebu, and other parts of the country who spearheaded the “Protect VP Sara Ride” campaign. She described their backing as a source of strength during difficult times.
“Their support strengthens us, and it means a lot to feel the love from our fellow citizens,” she said.
Duterte also acknowledged the concerns expressed by some of her supporters over her situation.
“I apologize for the stress, especially to senior citizens. Many have approached me or said, ‘We are stressed by what’s happening to you,’” she stated. “I did not wish for things to reach this point, but this is a part of a politician’s life. I ask for their understanding, particularly from our senior citizens.”
