VICE President Sara Duterte declined to answer whether she was ready to take over Malacañang in the event President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. could no longer perform his duties.
“‘Yan ang hindi ko muna sasagutin kasi magkakagulo tayo niyan,” she said in an interview.
Duterte, however, said President Marcos should not ignore calls for him to undergo a drug test, stressing that no government official is exempt from such scrutiny.
“Kapag President ka or Vice President ka or any government official… hindi ka puwedeng humindi kapag sinasabihan kang magpa-drug test ka, magpa-neuropsychiatric exam ka or any other exam na mag-relate sa competency mo to lead,” she added.
The Vice President said public officials “should immediately submit” to a drug test when challenged.
Her remarks came after Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed that she and her family had used illegal drugs in the past.
Malacañang earlier said the President had long tested negative for illegal substance use and saw no need to respond to calls for a hair follicle test.
Duterte was in Davao City on Sunday, November 23, for the DU30 Run.
She again denied allegations that she was among the financiers of efforts to destabilize the administration after she was named by columnist Ramon Tulfo. She dismissed the accusation as mere “chismis” with no evidence to back it.
