AT least two allies of Vice President Sara Duterte are set to endorse an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to House Senior Deputy Minority Leader and Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice.
Erice disclosed this amid renewed talk of an impeachment bid against the President, saying the possible endorsers came from what he described as “pro-Sara stalwarts.”
“The pro-Sara stalwarts,” Erice said when asked who would endorse the impeachment complaint.
Pressed on the timing of the filing, Erice said the group behind the move was still finalizing the complaint. “They are finalizing daw the draft complaint,” he said.
Erice added that he himself was invited to endorse the complaint but declined, saying he wanted to keep an open mind when the matter reaches the House Committee on Justice.
“I also don’t want to be identified with the Duterte group because I am a true blue Liberal Party,” he said.
According to Erice, the planned impeachment complaint would center on alleged irregularities in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 national budgets.
