ISINIWALAT ni Department of Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire na walang alok sa kanya si Pangulong Marcos na maging kalihim ng kagawaran.
“No, honestly. It was not offered. I was asked to be an OIC (officer-in-charge),” ani Vergeire.
Gayunman, sinabi niya na bantulot siyang pamunuan ang kagawaran.
“I was able to explain to them also my reservations and he (President Marcos) just said, ‘Just continue to do the work and then we will discuss further’,” aniya.
Tatlong dekada na sa DoH si Vergeire na isang “career official.”
Ipinunto ng opisyal na hanggang anim na taon lang magsisilbi ang DoH secretary.
“So, kapag ka may term po kasi tayo, kapag ka ganiyan, it’s only 6 years. And by the time I finish the 6 years, I still have years left to serve. And I want to still serve, of course, until I retire. So, isa ho ‘yan sa reservation,” pahayag niya.
“But as I always say, if I am here for service, ito pong mga ganitong rason, siyempre we set it aside and if you really want to serve. So, we will see po in the coming months, days kung ano po ang magiging decision ng ating Presidente,” dagdag ni Vergeire.
