TINIYAK ni Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan na hindi isasapribado ang operasyon ng University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) sa Maynila.
Ginawa ni Balisacan ang pahayag matapos aprubahan ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang P6 milyong pagpapatayo ng cancer center sa loob ng UP-PGH.
“To set the record straight, there will be no privatization of PGH services. The government shall own the entire facility and PGH shall continue to operate as a public hospital,” pahayag ni Balisacan.
Ang UP-PGH cancer center ay ang kauna-unahang public-private partnership (PPP) project na inaprubahan sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Marcos.
“The private partner will build the facility. They will design, they will engineer and construct the facility, then transfer it to the UP-PGH,” paliwanag ng opisyal.
Maililipat lamang ito sa UP-PGH matapos ang 30 taon base na rin sa probisyon na nakapaloob sa Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme.
