PORMAL nang nilagdaan ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang Proclamation Number 84 na nagdedeklara ng state of calamity sa Region IV-A, V, VI at Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) matapos ang panalalasa ng Severe Tropical Storm Paeng sa bansa.
Tatagal ang state of calamity sa mga nasabing rehiyon sa loob ng anim na buwan.
“More than 1.4 million of the population in Regions IV-A (CALABARZON), V (Bicol), VI (Western Visayas), and BARMM were adversely affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng,” sabi ni Marcos.
Idinagdag ni Marcos na kinakailan ang pagdedeklara ng state of calamity para mapabilis ang rescue, recovery, relief at rehabilitasyon ng mga apektadong rehiyon.
“It will effectively control the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities, and afford the national government as well as the local government units (LGUs), ample latitude to utilize appropriate funds for rescue, recovery, relief and rehabilitation efforts, and for the continuous provision of basic services to the affected populations, in accordance with law,” dagdag ni Marcos.
