SINABI ni Albay Rep. Joey Salceda na pinag-aaralan na ng kanyang komite na patawan ng mas malaking buwis ang mga luxury goods sa harap ng panawagan na dagdagan ang kinukolekta sa mga mayayaman.
Sinabi ni Salceda, na siyang chairman ng House committee on ways and means na ito’y sa harap naman ng panawagan ng Oxfam International na patawan ng mas malakibg buwis ang mga the Philippine government to super-rich.
“The committee is particularly studying taxing wristwatches, bags, and other leather items above P50,000, private jets, luxury cars above P5 million, the sale of residential properties above P100 million, beverages above P20,000 per bottle, traded paintings above P100,000, among other items,” sabi ni Salceda.
Nauna nang sinabi ng Oxfam ang inequality na nararanasan sa Pilipinas kung saan mas malaki pa ang yaman ng siyam na pinakamayayamang Pinoy kumpara sa pinagsamang yaman ng kalahati ng populasyon ng bansa na aabot za 55 milyon.
“The levels of inequality in the country are obscene. That’s not just in income or wealth. That is also present in concentration of economic power. We have the highest concentration of business in the hands of a few among all ASEAN countries. And it leasds to having a cartel pretty much in every essential industry,” dagdag ni Salceda.
