FORMER presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said he will return to the Philippines only after President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. steps down from office.
In an interview on The Long Take, Roque made his intentions clear: “As soon as Marcos is gone, I’m back on day one. And sana this time around, we make them pay for all their offenses.”
He added, “Ang hirap kasi, the first time around, when we drove them away—si Marcos Sr.—we just forgave them. We recovered some ill-gotten wealth, but not all of it.”
Roque also said he cannot forgive the Marcos administration for allegedly forcing him into exile.
“I will never forgive this administration for what they did to me and my family,” he said.
Roque flew to the Netherlands in March 2025 after the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court. He is also facing a pending case in the Philippines over alleged human trafficking linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Roque has applied for asylum in the Netherlands.
