INIHAYAG ni presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na tatakbo siya sa 2022 elections kung kakandidato para sa pagkapangulo si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
“I would run with the administration only if Mayor Inday Sara will run for the position of president,” ani Roque sa isang panayam ngayong umaga.
Dagdag ng opisyal na ipinagdarasal niya na tumakbo sa pagkapangulo si Carpio dahil may mga katangian ito na matatagpuan sa namayapang Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Si Roque ay miyembro ng People’s Reform Party, ang partido ni Santiago.
Samantala, kinontra naman niya si Pangulong Duterte na sinabing hindi trabaho ng babae ang pagiging pangulo ng bansa.
“I don’t agree with that. I think the President merely emphasized that given the hardships of being president, he doesn’t wish it on his family, which is understandable coming from a good father,” aniya.
“But I think Mayor Sara will eventually make up her mind and she will have to decide on her own regardless of what her father says,” dagdag ni Roque.
“Being president doesn’t mean it’s an entitlement just because you’re a daughter,” ayon pa kay Roque. “She knows she has to work for it. She knows if she wins, the challenges are very great and that’s why it will have to be her personal decision.”
