Romualdez: ICI right place for truth, not for political noise

FORMER House Speaker and Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez reaffirmed his full support for the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), calling it the “right venue” to address allegations of fund insertions in flood-control projects through facts and evidence, not political noise.

Speaking to reporters after his appearance before the Commission on Monday, Romualdez said he welcomed the opportunity to clarify issues surrounding the national budget and share his personal knowledge of the budget process.

“It’s about facts and evidence, not political noise or speculation,” Romualdez said, noting that he appreciated the ICI’s objective approach.

The former Speaker added that he was willing to appear before the Commission again if summoned.

“I’m ready to return anytime I’m invited to share more information that could help the investigation,” he said, adding that he has not received any invitation from the Department of Justice.
