PNP orders probe on VP Sara threat to have Marcos, FL killed

NATIONAL Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil on Saturday directed the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to investigate Vice President Sara Duterte’s statement that she hired an assassin to kill President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

In a statement, Marbil said the PNP recognized the grave nature of the statement issued by the Vice President during an early morning press conference.

Duterte said if she gets killed, an assassin has the instructions to also kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House of Representatives Speaker and the President’s cousin, Martin Romualdez.

He said the PNP takes any threat to the safety and security of the President and all public officials with utmost seriousness.

“The safety of the President is a national concern and any direct or indirect threat to his life must be addressed with the highest level of urgency,” Marbil said.

He assured the public that the police would work diligently to ensure the safety of the president.

“We assure to take the necessary legal actions in accordance with the law. The PNP remains committed to upholding public safety and maintaining peace across the nation,” Marbil said.
