PAOCC wants probe into solon caught watching online sabong

THE Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) is urging the House of Representatives to investigate one of its members caught watching online sabong during a legislative session.

In a press forum organized by the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association (MACHRA) on Tuesday, July 30, PAOCC Secretary Gilbert Cruz reacted to a viral photo showing a congressman appearing to stream an online cockfight while in session.

“Well, sa akin ho, dapat imbestigasyon ’yon. […] Botohan ’yon, ’di ba [ng House Speakership]? Siguro respeto na lang po sa office,” Cruz said.

He emphasized that public officials, especially lawmakers, should not be seen engaging in any form of online gambling.

“Paano ka magiging ehemplo kung ikaw mismo nakikitang tumataya ka sa online? Hindi mo puwedeng ituro ’yong hindi mo ginagawa,” he added.

The PAOCC, known for its crackdown on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs), has recently expanded its scope to include online gambling platforms and abusive online lending applications.

Cruz said it is now up to the House to conduct its own investigation and seek an explanation from the congressman involved.
