IPINAGTANGGOL ng Palasyo ang muling pagkakahirang ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos kay Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Andres Centino sa pagsasabing siya lamang ang may kapangyarihan na magtalaga ng mga opisyal.
“The President as the Commander-in-Chief has the sole prerogative to appoint the AFP Chief of Staff,” sabi ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Idinagdag ni Bersamin na alam ni dating Department of National Defense (DND) officer-in-charge (OIC) Jose Faustino Jr. ang kaganapan hinggil sa pagkakatalaga kay Centino na nag-iisa lamang na four-star general sa AFP.
Nagbitiw si Faustino matapos italaga si Centino. Pinalitan ni bagong Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez si Faustino.
