IGINIIT ng Malacañang nitong Martes na wala itong kinalaman sa isinampang impeachment complaint laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin ang impeachment complaint na isinampa ng civil society groups ay “clearly the complainants’ independent initiative.”
“The impeachment complaint filed in the House of Representatives by several private citizens is clearly the complainants’ independent initiative, and its endorsement the prerogative of any Member of the House of Representatives,” ayon kay Bersamin.
“The Office of the President has nothing to do with it. The President’s earlier statement on the matter is unambiguous,” dagdag pa nito.
Nauna nang sinabihan ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang mga kongresista na huwag nang ituloy pa ang pagsusulong na ma-impeach si Duterte dahil sayang lang sa oras bukod pa sa counterproductive pa ito.
Isinampa ang impeachment complaint nitong Lunes at inendorso naman ni Akbayan party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña.
Culpable violation of the constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, at iba pang high crimes ang tinukoy na grounds para sa impeachment ni Duterte.
