MALACAÑANG has distanced President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. from talks of a potential 2028 tandem between Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Imee Marcos.
Palace Press Undersecretary Claire Castro told reporters that the President had no hand in the supposed alliance, saying, “Walang kinalaman ang Pangulo sa kontratang kanilang pinasukan.”
She went further, calling the pairing “isang tao na manggagamit at isang tao na willing magpagamit.”
The speculation was first raised by Senator Robin Padilla, who earlier said he would serve as campaign manager for the two.
VP Sara herself hinted at the tandem in a recent speech in Malaysia, where she quipped that it would be Senator Imee who would “bring back” former President Rodrigo Duterte from detention at the International Criminal Court.
