SEVERAL Duterte supporters from Mindanao are calling for a boycott of McDonald’s, the fastfood chain endorsed by comedian-host Vice Ganda, after he took a swipe at former president Rodrigo Duterte during a recent concert with singer Regine Velasquez.
During the show, Vice joked: “Nothing beats a jet ski holiday! Ride now from Manila to West Philippine Sea by jet ski! Get unlimited water bombing from Chinese vessels and a free trip to The Hague by ICC! Promo applies to DDS only! Pinklawans and BBMs are prohibited. ’Wag niyo akong subukan mga put*ng ina niyo!”
The line drew cheers from some in the audience but outrage from Duterte loyalists online.
“Taga-Mindanao, no McDonald’s for now. Until Vice Ganda is fired!” a popular vlogger from the region declared on his Facebook page.
“Kung mahal mo si Tatay Digong Rody Duterte, dapat huwag na lang natin suportahan ang mga promotion ni Vice Ganda,” he added.
Other Duterte supporters joined the boycott call:
“Jollibee or KFC pud ko, dili ko hilig McDo.”
“Jollibee is waving.”
“Same here, Butuan City area.”
“Boycott McDonald’s and Vice Ganda. Lumaki na ang ulo. Bastos, walang respeto.”
“Same with us here in Cebu.”
