Marcos faces 1st impeachment complaint

An impeachment complaint has been filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the House of Representatives over his alleged role in a 2025 corruption scheme involving unprogrammed appropriations.

The complaint was filed Monday morning by lawyer Andre De Jesus before the office of House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil.

It was endorsed by Deputy Minority Leader and Pusong Pinoy party-list Rep. Jernie Nisay, with photos showing Garafil formally receiving the documents.

This is the first impeachment case initiated against Marcos since he assumed the presidency in 2022.

In recent years, the House has also handled impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, which were linked to alleged irregularities in the use of confidential funds from 2022 to 2024
