Malacanang allays war fears, assures public of gov’t readiness amid Mideast tension

MALACANANG on Monday allayed public fears over the possibility of a global war, saying the Philippine government is fully prepared to respond to any crisis amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed all concerned agencies to prioritize the safety and welfare of overseas Filipinos, particularly those in high-risk areas.

“The President wants to assure the public that we are ready for any scenario. The government will meet the needs of our people,” Castro said during a Palace briefing.

“There is no reason to panic. The government is working for everyone.”

This comes as online speculation of a potential World War III grows, following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

US President Donald Trump warned of more attacks unless Iran opts for peace, while Tehran vowed retaliation.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has urged calm and emphasized diplomacy, a sentiment echoed by the President.

Over 2.2 million Filipinos live in the Middle East, including 30,000 in Israel and 1,180 in Iran.

Alert Level 3 has been raised in both countries, with government agencies facilitating repatriation and assistance.
