Kiko says pets will keep him company during suspension

DASMARIÑAS, Cavite Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga said he had “mixed feelings” after the House of Representatives voted to impose another 60-day suspension against him on Wednesday, February 4.

The chamber approved the recommendation of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges with a vote of 238-10, with nine abstentions.

Committee chair Rep. JC Abalos said Barzaga violated Section 141, Rule 20 of the House Rules by continuing to post what the committee described as malicious and defamatory content on social media while serving his earlier suspension.

Abalos also said Barzaga ignored the committee’s formal notice and publicly declared on social media that he would not attend the hearing.

During the plenary deliberations, Abalos stressed that disciplinary action was necessary to uphold the standards of conduct expected of House members.

Asked what he plans to do during his suspension, Barzaga said: “I will play with my cats and dogs.”

This marks Barzaga’s second 60-day suspension. He was first suspended on December 1, 2025 over similar issues related to his online posts.
