Jimmy Bondoc backs VP Sara as possible successor: ‘Bakit hindi n’yo subukan?’

FORMER OPM artist and lawyer Atty. Jimmy Bondoc said he would support Vice President Sara Duterte if she ends up replacing President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., stressing that the Constitution places her next in line should efforts to unseat the President prosper.

Bondoc acknowledged that he has long been open about supporting the Vice President. “People will say pro-Sara ako, which is true,” he said.

He added that beyond his personal preference, the Constitution outlines a clear line of succession. “It’s not about the pro-Sara. It’s about changing an effective leadership and by the virtue of constitutional succession, si VP Sara talaga ang nakalaan,” he said. “Is it political? On my part, syempre, it’s a bit political but also it is constitutional… Walang masama.”

Bondoc urged the public to “give her a chance” if she indeed assumes the presidency during the remaining two-and-a-half years before the 2028 national elections. “Sa lahat po ng hindi nagtitiwala kay [VP] Sara, bakit hindi ninyo subukan?… Kapag hindi ninyo nagustuhan, kapag kinalaban n’yo ‘yan sa eleksyon, matatalo siya kung hindi matuwa ang taumbayan,” he said. “Pero kapag natuwa, pasensya kayo.”

Bondoc joined Sunday’s protest at the EDSA People Power Monument led by groups calling for “accountability, justice, and integrity.”
