LALO pang tumaas ang inflation ngayong Enero 2023 matapos itong pumalo sa 8.7 porsiyento, pinakamataas simula noong Enero 2008, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Sinabi ng PSA na mas mataas ito kaysa sa 8.1 porsiyento na naitala noong Disyembre 2022.
“The main driver in the uptrend of inflation in January 2023 was the higher year-on-year increase in the index of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels at 8.5 percent, from 7.0 percent in December 2022,” sabi ng PSA.
Idinagdag ng PSA na kabilang din sa mga nagdulot ng pagtaas ng inflation ang food at non-alcoholic beverages na pumalo sa 10.7 porsiyento, mula sa 10.2 porsiyento noong Disyembre 2022.
“Also contributed to the increase in inflation was restaurants and accommodation services with an inflation rate of 7.6 percent in January 2023, from 7.0 percent in December 2022,” ayon pa sa PSA.
