THE black-themed campaign advertisement of Senator Imee Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte is more reflective of the previous administration than the current one, Malacañang said.
Responding to the ad’s somber tone—highlighting issues such as hunger and crime—Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro said the description better fits the Duterte administration, which was marred by reports of extrajudicial killings and high levels of poverty.
Castro cited the Philippine National Police and Senate President Chiz Escudero, who recently said crime rates have declined under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.
She added that the Marcos administration is gradually bringing hope back to Filipinos.
Castro also urged voters to be discerning and not to be swayed by emotional campaign messages. “Let us seek the truth and be vigilant against fake news,” she said.
