Digong urges supporters to stay calm, avoid commenting on ICC

DETAINED former President Rodrigo Duterte has called on his supporters to remain calm and refrain from commenting on the legal aspects of his case before the International Criminal Court (ICC), his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, said.

“Let us leave the matter to the lawyers and to the court which will decide on the case,” the Vice President told supporters gathered outside the ICC detention facility in The Hague on Friday as they celebrated the 80th birthday of the former leader.

Several Filipino lawmakers, including senators, have been outspoken in criticizing Duterte’s arrest and detention, questioning the ICC’s jurisdiction and the legality of the charges.

The Vice President also shared that her father urged supporters to protect their votes against potential cheating in the upcoming midterm elections.
