ITINALAGA ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang matagal nang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Assistant Director na si Medardo De Lemos bilang bagong direktor ng bureau.
Sinabi ni Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles na ang pagtatalaga kay De Lemos ay indikasyon na nais ni Marcos na palakasin ang sistema ng “meritocracy.”
Si De Lemos, na 37 taon na sa bureau, ay naunang itinalaga bilang NBI officer-in-charge (OIC) ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Dati na ring na-appoint si De Lemos bilang OIC ng bureau noong 2013 sa panahon ni dating Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
“Part of De Lemos’ accomplishments as an NBI official is the crafting of the bureau’s Rules of Engagement which defined the policy on the use of deadly force in its enforcement operations,” ayon sa pahayag ng Office of the Press Secretary.
“De Lemos biggest accomplishment in the bureau was the busting of the notorious Alvin Flores robbery group in 2009 when he was still regional director of the NBI’s Central Visayas Regional Office,” dagdag pa nito.
