PALACE Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro denied rumors that she will replace former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Speculation arose after the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Tuesday, October 7, that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. had appointed Remulla as the new Ombudsman.
During a Palace press briefing on October 8, Castro dismissed circulating claims that she was being eyed for the DOJ portfolio.
“Unang-una po, hindi po natin alam kung saan nagsimula ‘yan. So, wala pong katotohanan ‘yan,” Castro said.
When asked if she would accept the position should the President offer it to her, Castro replied, “Hypothetical question, I cannot answer.”
As of Wednesday, Malacañang has yet to announce who will succeed Remulla as Justice Secretary.
