INIUTOS ng Ombudsman ang preventive suspension laban kay Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Director General Jeremiah Belgica at apat na iba pang opisyal nito dahil sa umano’y graft.
Sa order na pirmado ni Ombudmsna Samuel Martires noong Mayo 24, iniutos nito ang anim na buwan na suspensyon laban kay Belgica, Deputy Director General Eduardo Bringas, Director Jedreck Ng, Director Melamy Salvadora-Asperin, at Division Chief Sheryl Pura-Sumagui.
“In order to secure the documents and to prevent possible harassment of witnesses and considering further that their continued stay in office may prejudice the case filed against them, they are hereby placed under PREVENTIVE SUSPENSION for a period of six (6) months pursuant to Section 24 of Republic Act No. 6770,” ayon sa kautusan.
Ang kaso ay nag-ugat sa reklamo na isinampa ng telecommunications firm laban sa mga suspendido dahil sa pagpabor at pagbibigay ng special treatment ng mga ito sa isang telco company sa pagpili ng New Major Player sa telecom industry sa bansa na ginawa ng National Telecommunications Commission.
Ayon kay Martires, ang pinaburang telco ay nakabili ng bid documents kahit hindi sumali sa NMP selection process.
