ACTRESS and Quezon City councilor Aiko Melendez drew attention online after sharing details of her recent visit to Vice President Sara Duterte, whom she repeatedly referred to as “Madam President.”
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 13, Melendez said she had a “meaningful and heartfelt” conversation with Duterte during her visit to the Vice President’s office.
Melendez said she was particularly struck by Duterte’s simplicity and humility, describing the Vice President as approachable, candid, and sincere. “Napaka-accommodating niya at napaka-candid kausap—walang arte, totoo, at bukas ang loob,” she wrote.
She added that speaking with a leader who listens and shows genuine concern was “refreshing,” noting that such traits are rarely seen among officials in high positions.
Melendez also thanked Duterte for taking the time to meet with her and for sharing insights during their discussion, although she did not disclose the specific topics they talked about.
She ended her post by expressing her continued respect and admiration for the Vice President, saying she looks forward to supporting initiatives that promote public service grounded in humility and compassion.
