HINDI tinutulan ng ilang senador ang sinabi ni Senator-elect Robin Padilla na gagamitin niya ang Filipino language sa mga pagdinig, deliberasyon o debate sa Senado.
Ayon kay Senate President Vicente Sotto III na ang paggamit ng vernacular sa Senado ay opsyon o personal choice ng sinumang miyembro ng Senado.
“That is indeed an option if you have difficulty in the English language, but you cannot force the others to interpellate in Filipino. The journal, rules, index and bills are all written in English, not to mention the Constitution,” ani Sotto.
Wala namang nakikitang masama si Sorsogon governor at ngayon ay Senator-elect Francis Escudero sa paggamit ng wikang pambansa sa mga sesyon ng Senado.
“I myself have been speaking in Filipino on the floor since I was a congressman in 1998. There is nothing wrong with it, and it is allowed by the rules,” ayon kay Escudero.
Wala ring pagtutol si Senator-elect Jinggoy Estrada sa paggamit ng Filipino sa mga sesyon ng Senado at pagdinig ng komite.
“There seems to be no problem with it. Remember during the impeachment trial of CJ Corona, I was speaking in our native language in order for the ‘masa’ to understand it well. In fact, there is no rule in the Senate that bars you from speaking in our own language,” ayon kay Estrada.
Kamakailan ay sinabi ni Padilla na Filipino language ang gagamitin niya sa pakikipagdebate sa Senado.
