US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will sign an executive order next week reversing the Biden administration’s push for paper straws.
“I will be signing an Executive Order next week ending the ridiculous Biden push for Paper Straws, which don’t work. BACK TO PLASTIC!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
The move comes in response to the Biden administration’s policy to phase out single-use plastics in federal food service by 2027 and across all federal operations by 2035.
Trump’s stance on plastic straws has been a recurring theme in his criticism of environmental regulations, previously calling paper straws “ineffective” and “unnecessary government overreach.”
